Placing self-driving vehicles in the 1950’s
In these posters I try and answer the question, “What would things be like if self-driving cars were around in the 1950’s?”. By placing the technology in a different cultural context, I imagined how it might be comoditized and advertised differently than it is today. I sort of wanted the final products to ooze retro-futurism, and I took inspiration from 50’s “jet age” concept car design, the Fallout universe, and this 1956 video depicting GM’s vision of consumer-owned autonomous vehicles.
Copies of both posters are currently being displayed at Oxa’s corporate headquarters and main testing facility.
